Wemyss Ware Cat Trail Kirkcaldy 2026 logo

The Wemyss Ware Cat Trail took place between April and October, 2026. It was organised by the Adam Smith Global Foundation, founders and administrators of the Kirkcaldy Lottery.

Local artists decorated 17 giant cat sculptures, and these were situated on roadsides, in parks and outside shops, cafes and museums around Kirkcaldy – and beyond.

The cats were very well-loved by locals, and on October 3rd they were auctioned off at a packed event at the Adam Smith theatre. The public auction raised over £100,000 – all of which will be reinvested in local projects. You can read about the auction and see pics here.

For facts and figures, pics of the cats and a record of some of the press and social media activity, download our Cat Trail report, here (pdf).

And if you're interested in how the cats were made and who made them, you can watch videos of some of the artists involved in the trail on our YouTube channel.
